ohhhh… a book review? maybe so… but i’m inclined to just babble on soooo let’s just see this as a share of thought, one i couldn’t leave without telling.
i remember it but hazily, not because it’s something i want to forget, but because it was a day that started like any other. i wasn’t aware that in minutes upon entering the bookstore i would be pulled toward this wall with books pinned up high. instantly, my eyes were stuck. i am not certain how it could take hold of my wandering eyes. imagine a kid in a candy store, that’s me in a bookstore. so yes it was a puzzle that i was captivated and mesmerized in seconds upon glancing at this book. maybe it was the cover or how the letters “peculiar children” were written or maybe the name miss peregrine holds the key or that little girl standing there in the middle (but upon a closer look, you’d see she’s actually floating). one is to think of it as lonely yet you don’t quite say coz’ she seems all content to be just as she is floating there and staring at you. whatever it was, it held a magic in me and i grabbed the book on the stand before any other can be grasped by its secrets.
MISS PEREGRINE’S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN is not one to be overlooked, that i am certain. it’s a story within a story about a story. it tickles your imagination that a part of you reveals itself, that peculiar kid you were once. it grows in you and breathes in you. and the next thing you know, you’re halfway along the journey of a man in search for the truth behind a great old story; a journey that engulfs you and makes you yearn to be part of it as it unveils the magic it holds - one that is not just make-believe but a tale of wonder and awe. surely, you will find yourself hoping that the story never ends.
i don’t want to ruin the journey for you by telling you bits and pieces of this magnificent tale because surely, my words would never compare. but trust me, you wouldn’t wanna miss this one!
